FAQs
What is composite decking?
Composite decking is made from a blend of recycled wood fibres and plastic, creating a durable, low-maintenance alternative to traditional wood decks.
How long does composite last?
Most composite decking products are designed to last 25–30 years or more when properly installed. They resist rot, splintering, and insect damage that often affects wood decks.
Does composite require maintenance?
Composite requires very little maintenance compared to wood. There is no staining, sealing, or sanding required—typically just occasional cleaning with soap and water.
Doesn't composite get hot in the sun?
Like most outdoor materials, composite decking can become warm in direct sunlight. Modern composite products have improved significantly, and many manufacturers now offer heat-resistant or heat-reflective boards designed to stay cooler.

Choosing lighter colours, heat-resistant materials, and considering sun exposure during the design process can also help reduce surface temperatures. We work with several composite brands and can recommend the best options based on your deck’s layout, sun exposure, and how you plan to use the space.
